When it comes to your wedding, it should be all about the love between you and your fiancé. However, you can’t forget about your guests and their enjoyment. The team at Boundless Weddings has compiled the Top Three complaints we’ve heard from guests to help you avoid these pitfalls on your own big day.
1. The Date
Make sure you really think through your preferred wedding date – you don’t want to ask your guests to miss spending their holidays with their families to celebrate with you.
You can avoid this misstep by talking to your loved ones first to see if they already have plans for the day. By asking them so early on, your guests may feel more inclined to attend. Make sure you send our your save-the- dates sooner rather than later!
Congrats, you’ve finalized your guest list. Now comes the hard part – the seating arrangement. This is where the fine science of knowing you loved ones comes into play, where you need to figure out who can sit with whom and who needs to be far away from one another.
So, how do you deal with it? First and foremost, make sure there is enough room for your guests to move around between tables. No one likes to feel cramped or stuck in one spot. As for seating arrangements, why not throw away the traditional plan and let everyone sit where they want to.
Nothing says it better than this: Come as you are. Stay as long as you can. We’re all family, so no seating plan!
If you are inclined to have a seating arrangement, try to keep friends and family that get along in close proximity to one another. This will avoid your guests spending the night text each other from across the room during all the “awww” moments.
3. Cash Bars
Oh the cash bar – the love-hate decision for all soon-to- be married couples. Do you have a cash bar or do you take the hit and have an open bar? If you talk to the pros (and our staff), no matter how you slice it, cash bars are not the most loved things in the world.
So how do you find a healthy balance? Keeping your budget in mind, serve your guests a couple of glasses of wine, beer or signature drinks, with champagne for the toasts. Anything beyond that, your guests can utilize the cash bar.
